Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
